This year I did not hold mini-sessions for the 4th of July (patriotic theme) but I did do a very quick mini-session with my own girls. It was my youngest’s first Independence Day. She’s a real ham for the camera so I took advantage of it (this is what happens when mom is a photographer). It was a bit more posed than I usually like to do with a backdrop and them sitting in a wagon and my oldest waving a flag. When were ready to pack it in because they were no longer willing to cooperate, my kids were being themselves and that’s when I captured the real magic. Lifestyle photography is where it’s at, people. I think next year I’ll offer mini-sessions for my clients but I’ll let the kids dictate how they want to use the props and be natural.
And this one right here is my most favorite. I even bought a canvas print of it to hang up in my home because I feel so much love and emotion when I see my girls interacting with each other in this way. This is my true passion- capturing beautiful moments like this!
